United Way of Bucks County’s Board of Directors has declared November 11 to 15 as Staff Appreciation Week to recognize the dedication of its team in enhancing health, education, and financial stability across the county.
Throughout the week, UW Bucks’ staff of 15 will enjoy a series of appreciation gestures, including custom cookies, a catered lunch, and show tickets, to acknowledge their relentless efforts in community service.
“UW Bucks staff work tirelessly to fulfill our mission and help neighbors in need,” says Matt Hanson, UW Bucks Vice Chair for Impact. “Nonprofit work can be thankless, but it’s some of the most essential work in our community. We want to celebrate and appreciate UW Bucks staff for their dedication and impact.”
Over the past year, UW Bucks staff made significant strides, including expanding the HELP Center, an 8,000-square-foot hub that provides essentials like clothing, hygiene products, and home goods – free of charge – to hundreds of families and partner nonprofits each month. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick recently secured $2.9 million in federal funding to support the center’s ongoing growth.
UW Bucks also broadened access to early childhood education through the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program, benefiting around 450 local children and providing vision and hearing screenings to over 700. A new $5 million multi-year grant from the state will help continue the profound impact of this critical program.
“My colleagues’ dedication is inspiring. Their hard work makes such a difference in our community, and our board is with us every step of the way. There’s a lot of genuine mutual respect and I am incredibly grateful for their generous show of appreciation,” says Marissa Christie, President & CEO of United Way of Bucks County.
