Pennsylvania State Police have issued a traffic advisory for expected congestion during the annual Wreaths Across America event at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The event, which will take place from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., is anticipated to draw a significant number of visitors and volunteers.

Participants will lay 19,000 wreaths at the gravesites of veterans, honoring their service and sacrifice.

State police warned that the influx of attendees will lead to heavy traffic in and around the 205-acre national cemetery, which opened in 2009.

Congestion is expected not only at the cemetery but also on surrounding roads throughout the morning and early afternoon.

Police will be stationed to help with traffic control.

The annual wreath-laying ceremony is part of a nationwide tribute to America’s veterans and is celebrated at cemeteries and memorials across the country.
