Fatal Crash In Wrightstown Claims Life of 29-Year-Old Woman

A fiery crash claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman Thursday night when her vehicle struck a tree, according to police

According to the Newtown Township Police Department, the crash occurred at 9:09 p.m. in the 600 block of Swamp Road in Wrightstown Township, which is patrolled by Newtown Township officers.

The woman was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee westbound when the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree. The crash caused bad damage and led to the fire, police said.

Police and firefighters arrived at the scene and found the wreck.

Firefighters worked to extinguish flames from the passenger compartment as the woman was removed, police said.

The driver, who was trapped in the driver’s seat, sustained severe burns, police said.

The woman was removed from the vehicle and immediately transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township by ambulance.

At the hospital, the woman was pronounced dead, police said.

The section of Swamp Road between Second Street Pike (Route 232) and Worthington Mill Road was temporarily closed due to the crash investigation and the removal of the wreckage.

Detectives and crash investigation officers were continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash as of Friday.

Authorities have asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Newtown Township Police Department.
