After the closure of a Newtown Borough restaurant and bar in late June, the building’s owner is looking toward the future.

Relic on State Street, which opened in 2021, shuttered unexpectedly, according to social media posts.

The restaurant and bar was located at the corner of State Street and Centre Avenue in a circa-1754 structure with a long history as a place to get a meal and drink.

Building owner Scott Hendrickson told Newtown Patch last week he is actively looking for a new establishment to fill the space.

“I’m very sad to see Relic go. They had a great clientele, great employees, and an exceptional product that should have lasted longer than it did,” Hendrickson said.

Relic on State Street opened during the COVID-19 pandemic under the leadership of restaurateur Greg Conlon, who brought experience from New York City and oversaw renovations of the historic structure, according to the Bucks County Advance.

The establishment had replaced Thyme Bar and Grill, and was previously home to The Black Horse Tavern.
