A new Wawa convenience store and gas station is nearing completion along the Newtown Bypass.

Construction, which began last spring, appears to be in its final stages.

The Wawa sign is already installed along the bypass, crews are working inside the 5,585-square-foot building, and grading is underway in the retention basin as of Thursday.

A Wawa spokesperson didn’t announce when the location will open.

The new store sits on a 4.95-acre property at the corner of Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road, the facility will feature six fuel pumps.

Supervisor John Mack confirmed last year that Wawa has committed to installing solar panels on the gas pump canopy.

The development is the result of a 2023 settlement between the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors and Wawa, which brought an end to a protracted legal dispute concerning the site.

For years before construction, residents worried about potential impacts on traffic, the environment, and local businesses.
