Upper Makefield Community Day will take place Saturday, Sept 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brownsburg Park.
The event will feature a new memorial butterfly garden dedicated to the victims of the fatal July 2023 flash flooding. Designers of the garden will be on hand to answer questions.
New this year is the 25-mile Bike Tour de Upper Makefield, which will showcase the township’s scenic views. The bike ride begins at 8 a.m. at Brownsburg Park. To participate, residents can email Township Supervisor Tim Thomas at tthomas@uppermakefield.org.
Additional activities for the event will include tennis clinics; inflatable obstacle course; yard Jenga; a “Touch-a-Truck” display with fire trucks police cars, and other vehicles; a station for making pinecone bird feeders; and free tree sign-ups.
Food will be available from local businesses offering coffee, donuts, pizza, and mini sandwiches. A Rita’s Italian Ice truck will also be at the park.
The event will also feature exhibits from the Sol Feinstone Elementary School Science Fair and displays on the area’s history.
Residents will have the opportunity to meet with township volunteers, staff, and elected supervisors.
The rain date for the event is Saturday, Sept. 27.
