Democrats won several contested races in the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors election Tuesday, according to unofficial results.
Democrats Melissa Merk and Edward Merriman defeated Republican challengers Valerie Mihalek and Todd McGonigal for seats on the Board of Supervisors.
In other local contests, Democrat Mary Ann Adams won the Newtown Township auditor seat, holding back Republican Delia Flaherty Abrahamsen.
Tammy L. Sutton, who cross-filed as both a Democrat and a Republican, ran unopposed and was elected as tax collector.
