A New York City man is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania after being arrested on charges that he used stolen identities and credit cards to place more than 200 fraudulent orders for expensive liquor across the state.
Eugene K. Antwi, 26, of Brooklyn, New York City, is being charged with identity theft, access device issued to another who did authorize use, theft by deception, forgery, criminal use of a communication facility, and unlawful use of a computer.
The investigation, which included a presentment from the 52nd Statewide Investigating Grand Jury, revealed that Antwi allegedly perpetrated the scheme between August 2023 and September 2024, according to a joint statement from Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday and the Pennsylvania State Police.
Authorities said Antwi used falsified identities and stolen credit and debit cards to make more than 200 online purchases totaling over $65,000.
Antwi is accused of then picking up the high-value liquor orders at stores in 21 Pennsylvania counties.
“This defendant went to great lengths to steal from unsuspecting Pennsylvanians and defraud the Liquor Control Board, which oversees legal purchases of alcohol in the Commonwealth,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Our Organized Retail Crime Section is committed to collaborating with partners like the Pennsylvania State Police to combat theft and fraud that raise the prices of goods for hardworking Pennsylvanians.”
The charges were filed by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office in October, and the New York City Police Department arrested Antwi this week on the outstanding warrant.
