A local dance studio has been selected to perform at The Joyce Theater in New York City on Jan. 19 for a prestigious benefit supporting collegiate dance scholarships.

The Dance Ground, a training center based in Newtown Township, will join elite companies and emerging artists for “Destiny Rising: An Evening of Dance.”

The invitation-only showcase benefits the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation College Scholarship Program.

The studio’s dancers are set to perform “Resolution,” an original work by Andreas Jovovich, a Bucks County native and the studio’s co-artistic director.

“‘Resolution’ is about perseverance, growth, and the moment when dancers step fully into who they are becoming,” Jovovich said. “To see these dancers perform this work on the Joyce Theater stage — while giving back to an organization that supports dancers’ futures — makes this experience especially meaningful.”

In addition to the performance, students from The Dance Ground raised $15,000 for the foundation. The NYC Dance Alliance Foundation is a charity that provides scholarships to teenagers pursuing higher education in dance. The organization has previously fostered the careers of high-profile artists including Academy Award-winner Ariana DeBose and New York City Ballet’s Tiler Peck.

The upcoming event features a roster of respected institutions, including the ABT Studio Company, Complexions Contemporary Dance Company, and Parsons Dance.

Liz Jovovich, managing director of The Dance Ground, said the invitation to perform alongside world-class artists is an extraordinary honor.

“To stand alongside world-class artists while supporting the NYCDA Foundation reflects everything we strive to instill in our students — excellence, purpose, and community impact,” Jovovich said.
