Forecasters Warn Of Possible Slick Wednesday Morning Commute

A weak clipper system could bring a light coating of snow to the region by Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service’s regional forecast office said snow accumulations will remain minimal for most, with Bucks County projected to see less than an inch. Higher elevations in the Poconos could receive between 2 and 3 inches.

Forecasters are advising motorists to allow for extra travel time during the Wednesday morning commute due to the potential for slippery roads.

The latest chance of snow is arriving just as cleanup efforts from a massive weekend nor’easter continue.

The powerful storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow on the area from Sunday into Monday.

While plow crews worked throughout Tuesday to clear primary and secondary roadways, officials warned that the existing snowpack still poses a threat.

Overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the teens and low 20s, which will lead to the refreezing of runoff from melting snow.

“Any snow that does fall should melt rather quickly [Wednesday] as temperatures climb well into the 40s,” forecasters said.

The warmer afternoon temperatures are also expected to assist in melting the snow left behind by the nor’easter and the large storm in late January.

There is a chance for light rain or snow Thursday morning.

Meteorologists said they are monitoring the forecast for early next week, which may bring another round of winter weather to the region.
