Florence Kawoczka, the longtime executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County, will retire this summer, the organization announced.
Kawoczka, who took the top job at the nonprofit in 2011, oversaw a expansion of the group’s reach and housing models.
During her time at the organization, Habitat Bucks increased its home-building pace and assisted 53 new homeowners.
The organization’s board of directors has retained Kittleman and Associates, a Chicago-based national search firm with an office in Philadelphia’s Center City, to find Kawoczka’s successor.
“We are grateful to Florence for her visionary leadership, mission-focused approach and advocacy,” Michael L. Wilson, the nonprofit’s board president, said in a statement.
Under Kawoczka’s leadership, the organization grew to a team of approximately 65 employees.
She led the creation of a model established to ensure every home sold by the affiliate since November 2022 remains permanently affordable.
In addition, the organization’s “Almost Home” financial empowerment program designed to prepare residents for homeownership under Kawoczka’s leadership.
The group increased of efforts to renovate and restore dilapidated properties, and it opened of two additional ReStore locations.
The nonprofit currently operates three ReStores. One in Middletown Township, Quakertown, and Warminster.
The retail centers serve as a primary funding source for the organization’s home construction and repair projects.
“We extend our sincerest congratulations to her and wish her all the best in her next chapter,” Wilson said.
