An overnight patrol by Bensalem Township police officers resulted in the arrest of two people allegedly caught in the act of burglary.

Officers on routine patrol around 12:44 a.m. spotted an unoccupied vehicle parked at the dead end of Tremont Avenue.
A search of the area revealed a broken window and an unlocked door at a property in the 3100 block of Tremont Avenue, police said.
Additional officers, including a police dog, responded to the scene.

Officers entered the structure and apprehended two suspects, according to police.
Authorities identified the two as Matthew Guiffrida, 44, of Newtown, and Lauren McKenna, 38, of Warminster Township.
During a search after the arrests, officers found tools suspected of being used in the break-in. They also found suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Guiffrida and McKenna face charges of burglary, criminal trespass, possession of an instrument of crime, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
District Judge Terry Hughes preliminarily arraigned the two and set Guiffrida’s bail at 10% of $200,000 and McKenna’s bail at 10% of $25,000.
In a CrimeWatch statement, the Bensalem Township Police Department thanked the officers involved and noted their patrol work led to interrupting the burglary and taking the defendants into custody.
