Bucks County officials have issued a “Code Blue” as cold weather approaches.
The Code Blue will be in effect from Wednesday, February 10 at 7 p.m. to Tuesday, February 16 at 7 a.m.
From the county:
The National Weather Service is predicting consecutive days of frigid nighttime temperatures, with lows dipping into the single digits over the upcoming weekend. The EMA has made arrangements with the on-call churches, Calvary Baptist Church in Bristol, Doylestown Presbyterian Church and Quakertown Masonic Lodge to activate their emergency shelters. The on-call church volunteer teams will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.
County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. They advise all residents to be aware of the severe anticipated weather conditions. County residents are urged to check on their elderly neighbors during this period of dangerous weather. Caution also should be taken with pets during the anticipated period of extreme cold.
