Police Log: Possible Theft At High School, Scam Call & More

March 4

Scam

At approximately 8 a.m., police were advised by a Newtown resident that she had received a call from a male who identified himself as a representative from Microsoft and told the resident that there was a virus on her computer.  The male continued by asking the potential victim for personal information including her bank account number to pay for his services.  The male realized that the situation was a scam; turned off his  computer and contacted the bank to have his account changed.

March 6

DUI

At approximately 12:30 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Newtown Bypass, in the area of Campus Drive, for having committed multiple vehicle code violations.  Upon further investigation of the occupants the driver, 24-year-old Timothy Levans of Bensalem, was placed under arrest for the suspicion of driving under the influence.  Charges are pending the results of lab work.

March 7

Possible Theft

Just after 3 p.m. police received a call from a parent of a student of Council Rock High School North reporting that her son told her that he last saw his cell phone on Friday, March 4 while he was in class.  The School Resource Officer will follow-up with the victim.

March 8

Fraud

Shortly before 7 p.m., a resident called police to report fraudulent credit card activity.  The victim report that there were over 58 unauthorized purchases made on the account between early February and early March, totaling over $3,000.  The account has been cancelled and the victim will continue to monitor their credit reports.
