Public Drunkenness

While on patrol on Sycamore Street around 4:30 a.m., an officer observed a male subject leaning on a utility pole so the officer stopped to check on the man’s well being.    When the officer made contact with the man, he could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the man who was identified a, 54-year-old Stephen Casey of Edgeboro Drive in Newtown.  After a brief investigation the officer issued a citation charging Casey with public drunkenness.

Fraud

Shortly after 1 p.m., a resident of Newtown Township called police to report that she had received an email indicating her social security number had been used to apply for college funding.  The woman said that she never applied for any college funds or support.  The officer advised her to contact the social security office as well as the credit bureaus to put a fraud alert on her personal information.
