May 31
Theft
Police received a call from a resident of Newtown Crossing reporting that his patio chairs had been stolen sometime on May 28th between midnight and 2 a.m. from his front yard. The victim told the officer that a neighbor found the chairs the near the community pool. The chairs were not damaged and the neighbor also found a tent and a cell phone which were turned over to the police.
June 3
Fraud
Shortly before 3 p.m., a resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters to report that her debit card was used without her permission. She stated on Sunday May 29 her card was used on seven different occasions at ATM’s in Rhode Island. The victim learned that the suspect(s) obtained her Social Security number along with other information and was able to change the pin on her card. Her bank was made aware of the situation and will correct the loss.
Fraud
At approximately 7:20 p.m., police received a call from a resident reporting that he received packages from a mail order catalogue but had not placed the orders. The victim told the officer that the delivery was originally sent to his previous address of in New Jersey. The victim learned that a credit card was opened using his information and the charges totaled close to $800. The victim was going to notify his bank, credit card companies and return the merchandise to the business that sent them.
