Truck drivers in the Newtown area were stopped recently and inspected by the Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit.

Last Wednesday, police from the Newtown Borough, Newtown Township and the Upper Makefield Township police departments conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail. The enforcement happened in the area of Lookout Park along River Road in Upper Makefield Township.

During the detail, nine trucks were stopped and inspected, and two were placed out of service. Three citations and nine warnings were issued for violations that were found, police said.

On the Newtown Township police website, the department states the officers assigned to the multi-agency detail are Pennsylvania State Police and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration certified. The officers “are dedicated to reducing commercial vehicle collisions through enforcement of state and federal transportation laws.”
