The Newtown Township Police released suspect images as part of their investigation into a counterfeit currency scam that occurred last Monday in the Village at Newtown.

According to reports from several businesses, including Chopt, Crumble Cookies, Mod Pizza, and Chipotle, a man and woman were working together to pass counterfeit $100 bills for food items.

The suspects purchased low-priced items to receive change in the form of legitimate cash, police said.

Investigators are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the two individuals said to be involved in the scam.

The male suspect was described as wearing a black beanie, a red Polo Ralph Lauren Teddy Bear Reindeer Knit Sweatshirt, gray/black Adidas tapered logo pants, and black New Balance sneakers.

The female suspect was described as wearing a puffy black coat, white tie-dye leggings, black Ugg-style boots, and a blue Neo-G knee brace on her right knee.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects is asked to submit a tip to the Newtown Township Police Department via CrimeWatch.
