Upper Makefield Police Investigating Brazen Daytime Home Invasion

“To the cowards who committed this act, we are coming for you,” police said.

A brazen daytime home invasion took place Sunday at a home on Davis Drive in the Timber Knoll development of Upper Makefield Township.

At 12:51 p.m., a resident called 9-1-1 to report a burglary in progress. According to the caller, a taller and heavyset white male wearing a thin beanie-style hat, blue pullover hoodie, and pants rang their doorbell repeatedly, banged on their front door, and then proceeded to smash the rear glass door to enter the home.

The resident, who was upstairs at the time, managed to hide in a closet and call 9-1-1, police said.

The perpetrator entered the bedroom and attempted to enter the locked closet where the resident was hiding. Fortunately, the resident remained calm and the officers were able to arrive on the scene within three minutes, securing the perimeter and searching the home, police stated.

The burglar was no longer on the scene and the resident was found safe in the closet and escorted out of the home by officers, police said.

The investigation revealed that the resident had seen a white vehicle parked across the street during the attempted burglary, police said.

The vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival, but a canvas of the neighborhood resulted in a Ring camera capturing an image of a vehicle that may be connected to the incident, police said.

The vehicle in question is believed to be a Mazda CX9.

Police are asking residents along Woodhill Road, Taylorsville Road, Cooper Road, and in the Timber Knoll development to check their surveillance camera systems between 12:30 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. for any footage that could help with the investigation.

The Upper Makefield Township Police Department thanked the Newtown Township, Lower Makefield Township, Solebury Township, and Northampton Township police departments for their assistance in responding to the incident. Northampton Township’s K-9 unit assisted at the scene.

The department also commended the resident who called 911 for their composure and ability to provide pertinent information despite the stressful and frightening situation.

“To the cowards who committed this act, we are coming for you,” police said.

Anyone with additional information are urged to contact Detective Jeff Jumper at 215-968-3020.
