A driver is suspected of being intoxicated leading up to a fiery crash that happened last month.

Newtown Township police said DUI-related charges are pending blood draw results against the driver of an SUV that crashed around 4:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 in the 800 block of Penns Park Road near the intersection of Second Street Pike (Route 232) in Wrightstown Township. Newtown Township police are contracted to patrol Wrightstown Township.

The SUV struck a PECO utility pole, which brought down power lines and caused a fire.

The Lingohocken Fire Company posted on social media that they arrived at the scene to find the SUV fully engulfed in flames and resting on its side.

A passing motorist pulled the driver from the burning vehicle before emergency personnel arrived, fire officials said.

The driver was treated on the scene by medics from the Central Bucks Emergency Medical Services and suffered no serious injuries.
