October 13
DUI
At approximately 8:40 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
October 13
Fraud
At approximately 11:30 p.m., an Uber driver contacted police to report a fraud. The driver explained that he was locked out of his account because someone in San Fransico had fraudulently been using it. The driver did not suffer a monetary loss but reported the incident to regain access to his account.
October 15
DUI
At approximately 2:45 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Twining Bridge Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
Assault
Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence around 5:30 p.m. for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was taken into custody without incident and charged with simple assault and harassment.
October 16
Fleeing And Eluding
At approximately 1:30 a.m., police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Chevy SUV operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Twining Bridge Road. The vehicle fled from police, and police did not pursue the vehicle for the public’s safety. As a result of the investigation, the vehicle and vehicle owner were found to be wanted in connection to burglaries and felony warrants, and the operator was charged with fleeing and eluding police.
Fraud
At 7:30 p.m., a Wrightstown Township resident contacted police to report a fraud involving unauthorized purchases on her account. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
October 17
Identity Theft
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 11 a.m. to report identity theft. Someone fraudulently opened a bank account in her name with all of her personal information. The account was closed before the resident suffered a monetary loss. The resident was advised to monitor her accounts and contact the major credit bureaus.
October 18
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 4 p.m. to report a fraud involving false pretenses. The resident explained that she received a phone call from someone who posed as a police officer and claimed that her daughter, a college student in another state, had been arrested. She was instructed to transfer money to cover the costs of her daughter’s bond and community service program to prevent her daughter from going to jail. In a panic, the resident transferred the money before speaking to her daughter and realizing it was a scam.
October 19
Vandalism
At 4 p.m., police received a report of vandalism that occurred at a gas station in Newtown Township. Two male subjects defaced the inside of the bathroom door with graffiti, and the damage was documented.
