Newtown Township-based Boston Market is closing many of its locations, including one in Lower Bucks County.

A March report said that Boston Market was operating just under 30 locations nationwide, a steep decline from the 350 stores it boasted in 2021.

The closings across the country are another blow for the once-popular rotisserie chicken chain that has suffered problems in recent years.

The closure of the Boston Market on Oxford Valley Road in Falls Township was first noticed between mid-March and mid-April. The exact date unclear, according to readers.

The restaurant has since been removed from the company’s website, and signs have been posted outside advising against trespassing.

Restaurant Business, a trade publication, highlighted the company’s downsizing in March and noted that locations were regularly closing up.

Legal troubles have compounded the company’s operational challenges.

Earlier this year, US Foods won a $15 million award against Boston Market, which the company has since appealed.

Bucks County businessman Jignesh “Jay” Pandya, who owns the Boston Market chain under the Newtown Township-based Rohan Group of Companies, has faced his own financial hurdles. Pandya declared personal bankruptcy in December.

Pandya’s bankruptcy filing was terminated in January due the count finding he didn’t provide necessary information. He was blocked from filing for bankruptcy for six months due to the issue.

Pandya, who previously managed a number of Pizza Hut locations in the Philadelphia area that closed suddenly in 2019, has faced continuous challenges with his restaurant operations.

Just three years ago, Boston Market, had planned to test a new concept at the former Burger King along West Lincoln Highway in Penndel Borough. Those plans never moved forward.

A request for comment was sent to Boston Market on Monday and not returned as of publication time.

Boston Market was initially launched as Boston Chicken in 1985 and rebranded to its current name as it expanded its menu. It became popular in the 1990s and had a large footprint.
