Council Rock Newtown Little League Falls In World Series Opener

The team will play again this weekend.


The Council Rock Newtown Little League team faced a tough loss in their debut at the Little League World Series on Thursday.

The local team fell 9-0 to the Boerne, Texas team.

The game, which was broadcast live on ESPN, marked the end of an impressive 18-game winning streak for the Newtown-area boys.

The team headed to the Little League World Series after becoming Mid-Atlantic Champions last week.

The team features Rocco DaBronzo, Brayden Peiffer, Brody Gage, Greyson Gage, Nick Schiller, Dean Hamilton, Will Siveter, Gavin Caudill, Ryan Uhl, Saverio Longo, Tyler Neeld, Tyler Wexler, Wes Esteves, Manager Brad Hamilton, Coach Doug Peiffer, and Coach Kyle Neeld.

Despite the setback, the team is gearing up for their next game. They are scheduled to face the Salem, New Hampshire, team on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Local fans gathered at The Green Parrot and Iron Hill Brewery in Newtown Township to support their team and watch the athletes compete on the international stage.
