Ongoing PECO work has closed Lindenhurst Road in Newtown and Lower Makefield townships during weekdays through the spring.

The closure, which began on Tuesday, will continue until Wednesday, April 30. It will close the roadway on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The impacted section of Lidenhurst Road spans from the Newtown Bypass (Route 332) to Washington Crossing Road (Route 532), according to PennDOT.

Drivers have been advised to follow the detour via Newtown Bypass, Durham Road, and Washington Crossing Road, and to allow for additional travel time due to expected delays and backups in the area.

While through traffic is restricted during these hours, local access to properties within the work zone will be maintained, PennDOT said.

The closure is being carried out under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

PECO has been working on a multi-million dollar natural gas main project along Lindenhurst Road since last year.
