A nearby incident on the Delaware River has left a woman in critical condition.

According to the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, on Sunday, July 24, shortly before 2:30 p.m., a 48-year-old Hispanic female from Trenton was swimming in the Delaware River near the Lower Makefield/Yardley boat ramp on River Road. Officials noted that a person standing on the boat ramp observed the woman in distress, waving her arms and going under the water. It was then that a witness jumped into her boat and motored out to the drowning female. After several attempts she was able to pull her into the boat and CPR was performed.

Lower Makefield Police and Yardley Makefield Rescue squad responded, continued treatment, and transported the female to Saint Mary’s Hospital. The female is currently listed in critical condition.
