Pennsylvania State Police conducted a regional enforcement effort Monday.

Troop M, which covers Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties, undertook a detail to create “aggressive and visible” enforcement.

The goal, according to troopers, was to increase highway safety.

Troopers issued 222 traffic citations and 87 warnings. They made five DUI arrests and one drug-related arrest.

In their statement, state police said drivers who flee a traffic stop can face a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement. A conviction carries a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison, a $15,000 fine, and restitution for damages or injuries sustained as a result of a pursuit.
