The plan for a new owner of the closed The Wycombe House in Wrightstown Township has fallen through and the building and liquor license are up for sale.

According to the real estate listing, the 1.58-acre property was listed for sale earlier this month. The asking price is $2.4 million.

On a 1.58-acre lot, the establishment was previously a 142-seat restaurant and bar located near the Lingohocken Fire Company station in the village of Wycombe. It closed its doors on December 29, 2023.

Earlier this year, owner Jerry Driscoll had said the closed restaurant and bar received multiple offers and one was accepted. However, a non-disclosure agreement prevented Driscoll from disclosing the buyer’s identity, but he stated to the Bucks County Courier Times that the potential new owner was associated with a well-known restaurant in Newtown.

The Philadelphia Business Journal has recently reported that this sale did not proceed.

The listing now includes the building, the liquor license, and all the equipment inside.

Prior to closing the restaurant, Driscoll penned a letter to customers expressing gratitude towards customers and staff for their support. He attributed the closure to several factors, including inflation, rising mortgage costs, and increased liquor prices set by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. He also mentioned a noticeable decline in dining out habits.

Driscoll made a substantial investment into the venue, reportedly spending over $1.5 million in 2022 to renovate what was formerly known as the Wycombe Publick House.
